The 2010 World Cup is a tournament that millions of men around the world have been looking forward to for about four years. The month long tournament is a real feast of entertainment, where our football fix for the summer is well and truly met. With football everywhere you turn, two, three and sometimes four high quality matches to enjoy every day, the period from the 11th of June to the 11th of July is most definitely Man Month!
Man Month is AskMen’s celebration of what it means to be a fella during the world’s biggest sporting festival…the 2010 World Cup! Each and every Wednesday, from mid May right through to the conclusion of the tournament, the Man Month site is being updated with a weekly video, podcast and blog from the Football Ramble, as well as Top Tens and a chance to win the ultimate World Cup prize package!
This week their attention turns to Footballers of film, looking at some of the best film cameos played by footballers around the world. Your thoughts will immediately turn to Wimbledon hard man Vinnie Jones in Lock Stock and his efforts have not been ignored. While Eric Cantona may have performed admirably on the big screen, it would be unfair to ignore the efforts of some of the less talented footballers turned actors, namely Stan Collymore! The great, the good and the damn right awful are all included, with a decision made on whether they could have had an alternative career as a movie star.
We’re more than half-way through Man Month as the knockout stages of the 2010 World Cup start to hot up and some of the tournament’s big guns due to face each other. While the action on the pitch may have been a little bit hit and miss the coverage off it has certainly hit the spot. For football chat that is far more reliable than England’s performances on the pitch, check out AskMen UK’s Man Month microsite, and fully enjoy the spectacle that is Man Month!
