The Daily Mail reported Blackburn have a budget of just £100,000 ($126,847) for the women's team for the upcoming season, meaning the players will be on the UK minimum wage of £11.44 ($14.51) for those 21 and over. Now, Bayern Munich player Stanway – who began her career at Blackburn – has taken to social media to share her thoughts on the matter.

Blackburn's owners, the Venky's have been under investigation in India over a tax dispute and the club as a whole is allegedly struggling financially- evidenced by plans to pay the women's team £9,000 a year ($11,416). The Lancashire outfit produced such players as England stars Stanway and Keira Walsh, while Ella Toone spent time on loan there. Now, the club is really struggling, with 10 players departing following the expiry of their contracts last week.

It is understood they will operate on contracts of 16 hours per week, with training occurring between Wednesday to Saturday; with matches on a Sunday. The report adds the 16 hours will not include travel for away games or overnight stays.
